Summary of the General Manager role:

Our client is seeking a General Manager to oversee the operational and administrative functions of facilities management across their organisation. This role is responsible for ensuring the effective maintenance, safety, and functionality of all soft facilities services while leading teams and optimising resources to achieve operational excellence. The General Manager will implement strategies to align facilities services with organisational goals, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and a safe, productive environment for employees and stakeholders.

General Manager Deliverables / Outcomes (include but are not limited to):

Operational Management:

  • Oversee daily Facilities Soft Services operations.

  • Manage service contracts and vendor relationships.

Budget & Financial Oversight:

  • Manage facilities budgets, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation.

  • Conduct cost analyses and develop strategies to minimize operational expenses without compromising quality.

  • Oversee capital expenditures, including renovations, upgrades, and new projects.

Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with regulations related to safety, health, environmental standards, and accessibility.

  • Maintain emergency response plans, including disaster recovery and business continuity measures.

  • Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.

Team Leadership:

  • Manage and develop the facilities management team, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.

  • Recruit and train staff to ensure high levels of technical and customer service expertise.

  • Encourage ongoing professional development to keep the team updated with industry trends and innovations.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with senior management and clients to align facilities services with organisational needs and contractual agreements.

  • Communicate effectively to ensure transparency on operations, projects, and progress.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications Needed:

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in facilities management or a related field, including at least 5 years in a management role.

  • Proven experience in managing large-scale facilities or multi-site operations.

  • Strong team management skills.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.

  • Proficient in facilities management software and reporting tools.

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to manage budgets and drive cost-saving initiatives.

Location: London, on-site

Start Date: Immediate

Duration: 3 months

Salary: £50,000 per annum (pro-rata)
