Summary of the Project Manager role:
Our client is seeking a highly organised and technically proficient Building Services Project Manager to lead and coordinate the delivery of various building services projects at a Research & Development site near Oxford. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of Mechanical & Electrical system installations and upgrades, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest standards of quality.
Project Manager Deliverables / Outcomes (include but are not limited to):
Manage the full project lifecycle of building services installations, from initiation through to handover and close-out.
Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and resource plans in coordination with stakeholders.
Oversee subcontractors and consultants to ensure quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Coordinate with engineer, clients, and internal teams to integrate building services projects seamlessly with operations.
Monitor project performance using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques, and report regularly on progress, risks, and issues.
Conduct site inspections and technical audits to assess progress and ensure compliance with specifications and building codes.
Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, including the development and enforcement of safe work practices.
Identify and implement opportunities for value engineering and cost-saving measures.
Provide technical input and support during tendering and bid preparation stages.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
Degree or diploma in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Proven experience (at least 5+ years) in managing building services projects, preferably in a contractor or consultancy environment.
Strong knowledge of M&E systems, BMS (Building Management Systems), and sustainability standards.
Familiarity with relevant building codes, standards, and health & safety legislation.
Proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, AutoCAD, Revit, etc.).
Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, or CIBSE membership) are a plus.
Attention to detail and strong problem-solving ability.
A collaborative mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
Experience in delivering sustainable and energy-efficient solutions.
Location: Abingdon / Hybrid Working
