Summary of the Procurement Buyer role:
Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Procurement Buyer to support the Procurement Manager in implementing and executing the procurement strategy on one of their key accounts. This role is central to supplier engagement, cost efficiency initiatives, and ensuring procurement operations align with overarching business goals.
Procurement Buyer Deliverables / Outcomes (include but are not limited to):
Draft, negotiate, and formalise supplier contracts in accordance with client procurement standards and facilities-related requirements.
Liaise with service providers and contractors to ensure efficient, cost-effective delivery of FM services (e.g. maintenance, cleaning, security, utilities).
Negotiate pricing, volumes, and service terms based on client objectives, focusing on operational continuity and value for money.
Execute contracts for FM goods and services while ensuring legal and compliance standards are met.
Maintain contract documentation and procurement records to support reporting, audits, and supplier reviews.
Monitor supplier performance against SLAs and KPIs, escalating concerns to the Procurement Manager when needed.
Support procurement planning for routine and reactive FM needs, ensuring alignment with site operations and client expectations.
Collaborate with FM teams and internal stakeholders to identify sourcing opportunities and improve supplier relationships.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the efficiency and sustainability of FM procurement processes.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
Proven experience in procurement and purchasing, preferably within a Facilities Management (FM) or building services context.
Strong contract drafting and formalisation skills, with a solid understanding of procurement compliance and legal frameworks.
Effective negotiation skills, including price benchmarking, volume agreements, and service-level terms tailored to FM needs.
Supplier management and engagement expertise, with the ability to build and maintain strategic relationships across a diverse supplier base.
Familiarity with FM-related goods and services, such as maintenance, cleaning, waste management, and utilities.
Ability to manage multiple procurement cycles simultaneously and prioritise competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
Commercial acumen and analytical skills to assess proposals and deliver cost-saving opportunities.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with confidence to liaise across technical, operational, and client teams.
Proficiency with procurement platforms and systems, such as eProcurement or ERP tools (e.g. SAP, Oracle).
Knowledge of relevant legislation and sustainability practices in FM sourcing (e.g. social value, ESG initiatives).

Duration: 16 - 18 months
Day Rate: Competitive day rate
